Day 1: Lusaka, Zambia

Welcome to Africa! In Lusaka's city center, the sprawling Lusaka City Market sells clothing, produce, and other goods. The National Museum exhibits archaeological finds and contemporary art. Nearby, the Freedom Statue commemorates Zambia's struggle for independence. Just outside the city, Munda Wanga Environmental Park has a wildlife sanctuary and botanical garden, and the Lilayi Elephant Nursery cares for orphaned elephants. You'll have the afternoon to explore at your leisure, and you'll enjoy a traditional dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2: Lusaka, Zambia

You'll enjoy breakfast at your hostel before your guide arrives to take you on a tour of the city. Together, you'll explore the local markets and visit the National Museum. In the afternoon, you'll have more time to explore on your own, and in the evening, you'll have the freedom to select a local restaurant of your choice for another delicious dinner.

Enjoy a filling breakfast at your hostel before embarking on the next leg of this journey. Today, you will travel to Livingstone, leaving early and driving (six hours) to your next stop. You'll arrive in time for lunch, and in the afternoon, your guide will take you off the beaten path with a tour to a traditional Zambian village. You will see how everyday life operates outside the city and learn about rural Zambian life. In addition to touring a village and learning firsthand about schools, homes, and jobs, you will visit a cultural center to take a more formal look at significant practices, like painting masks and performing ceremonies.

Day 4: Livingstone, Zambia

You'll eat another delicious breakfast at your hostel before spending some time exploring the city on your own. When you start to feel hungry again, you can stop at a local restaurant and eat a filling lunch.

You will spend the late afternoon on the water of the Zambezi River. You'll experience the best of both worlds on this Zambezi River sunset cruise. The ultimate river cruise combines the picturesque tranquility of an African sunset with the excitement of a river safari in order to experience two sides of this world-renowned river.

Day 5: Victoria Falls, Zambia

After eating breakfast at your guesthouse, you'll board a private bus to Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. You’ll spend the day capturing these magnificent falls on camera, spending time in Zambia to catch different angles, and trying your luck at spotting local wildlife. In the afternoon, you’ll have the option to participate in popular activities, such as bungee-jumping and gorge-swinging from the Victoria Falls Bridge.

On your way back to Livingstone, you’ll visit a remote Zambian village. Through this unique opportunity you’ll meet local villagers, learn about tribal culture, and use your photography skills to capture the unforgettable encounter.

Day 6: Victoria Falls Town, Zimbabwe

After breakfast, we'll cross Victoria Falls Bridge to arrive in Zimbabwe. You'll enjoy the opportunity to compare the differences between Zambia and Zimbabwe, also learning about how David Livingstone and Sussi & Chuma discovered the Falls years ago. After lunch, the daredevils in our group may wish to add on activities like whitewater rafting, bungee-jumping, and gorge-swinging.

Day 7: Zambezi National Park, Zimbabwe

After another filling breakfast, our guide will pick us up and take us to Zambezi National Park for a morning game drive. The park is home to elephants, lions, giraffes, among other animals — so bring your camera and keep your eyes open! After our tour, we will head back to the lodge in time for lunch.

In the afternoon, you may continue exploring Victoria Falls Town on your own, choosing to participate in an adrenaline-inducing activity or getting to know the local way of life even better. Make the most of your last full day in Africa!

You'll have one last breakfast at your hostel, then head to the airport for your flight home. Although it’s never easy to say goodbye, you can console yourself by thinking back to the friends you made, the adventures you lived, and the scenery you traversed!

+ Do your tours include international airfare?

Travelers arrive from all over the world to begin our tours, and it is not possible to include international airfare in our prices. We would be happy to help you arrange flights. Just ask for an air quote when making your booking.

+ How should I pack for this trip?

You should pack most of the items that you would bring on a traditional African safari (although you may omit the binoculars if you desire). You should also bring clothing and shoes that can get wet, a raincoat, and a hat.

+ What vaccinations should I get before my trip?

It's important that you receive the most accurate and up-to-date travel health information before departing for Zambia and Zimbabwe. The only people qualified to provide you with this advice is your family physician and/or a specialist from a Travel Health clinic. We can provide some general guidance on which websites you should consult for overall health guidelines, but these websites are no substitute for a personal consultation with a qualified medical professional.
