Itinerary Overview

The workshop is focused on storytelling by film versus digital!

During this amazing journey in the dreamest country Lapland, we will explore the snowy surroundings and learn how to create moments and documenting your day as a professional photographer.

My goal is to give you all my skills to use an analog camera, talking about films, compositions and even more...

Also, make sure to come with a digital camera and a tripod for night shots sessions and catch Aurora Borealis.

After a delicious breakfast to start the day, we will practice how to shoot landscapes and candid portraits but how to get a natural look with editing sessions.

Prepare yourself to dive deeply in a week with other photographers like you, sharing your experiences and having fun. The program is very exciting with a visit to Reindeers farm, a ride with huskies or fishing with locals in a snow hole but also free time to shoot and rest.

This time of year is perfect but very cold, so make sure to come with warm boots and jackets!

Beyond the workshop, this is an experience in an amazing country you don't want to miss!

Hope to see you there

Day 1: Ivalo, Finland

Arrival Airport: Ivalo Airport (IVL)

It’s time to take off to one of the most spectacular dreamlike landscapes on the planet—the wild north in Finland’s Lapland, otherwise known as the Arctic. We’ll fly high above the Arctic Circle, to the Ivalo Airport, where it’ll feel as if we’ve landed on another planet. Come January, the sun barely reaches over the horizon, creating a rare sky of rich pinks and navy blues. The colors reflect off the silvery, moon-like, landscape, adding to the otherworldly atmosphere.

Accommodation: Villa Vuosselinranta

Day 2 & 3: Ivalo, Finland
see more details >

Although our chances of seeing the northern lights are relatively high in this corner of the world, it’s never a guarantee they’ll appear; geomagnetic fields and clear skies are the main factors in seeing the dancing lights. Because of this we’ll make the most of our days

During our two full days in Ivalo we will:

  • Visit a husky kennel and experience riding on a traditional dog sled through the snow-capped trees.

  • Visit the villages of the indigenous Sámi people of Lapland, meet their reindeer, listen to their stories, and capture the experience through photographs.

  • Set out snowshoeing through the frozen forest and try our hand at ice fishing.

Each night we’ll set out in the search of the northern lights.

Accommodation: Villa Vuosselinranta

Day 4: Ivalo – Kuusamo, Finland
see more details >

In the morning we’ll depart Ivalo on our private bus and head to Kuusamo, just south of the Arctic Circle (drive time 3-4 hours). This village lies on the edge of Finland’s famous fairy forest. On our journey we’ll pass reindeer herders and blinding mountains, pausing for photos as we see fit.

Upon arriving in Kuusamo, we’ll settle into our lodge neighboring Riisitunturi National Park. This world famous park is known for its hanging bogs; in the winter, the trees freeze and droop, creating a bizarre yet dreamy landscape that’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness firsthand. We’ll search for the northern lights over a dazzling frozen lake before settling into our cabins for the night.

Accommodation: Villa Ruka Safaris

Day 5 & 6: Kuusamo, Finland
see more details >

During our next days in Kuusamo, we’ll enjoy a snowshoeing adventure around the hanging bogs of Riisitunturi. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for wolves, owls, and other Arctic wildlife. In the evenings, we’ll have two final nights under the neon ribbons of the aurora

Accommodation: Villa Ruka Safaris

Day 7: Kuusamo – USA
see more details >

Today we say goodbye to Lapland as we board our flights from the Kuusamo airport to our home destinations; or, if you’re so inclined, you can head onwards for a 4-day Russia Extension.
