Earlier this year, I won a trip to Reykjavik, Iceland through the Acanela sweepstakes. I’ll first say, I’ve never entered into a sweepstakes before, let alone any contests. I’ve always been skeptical, thinking that no one actually ever won any trips. But two weeks later, I received an email confirming the trip. And 6 months after that, my boyfriend, Peter, and I finally set off in late October for a long weekend in Iceland.

My Culinary Trip with Acanela Expeditions was worth every Penny! Acanela had connections with people and places I could have never found on my own. In fact, many of the cities we visited I had been to before but still felt as though I was visiting a new city. My dreams came true being able to learn to cook at a real Italian Farm To Table Restaurant! We were able to attend many food tours at try some of the most famous foods at some of the best restaurant venues! I loved my Culinary Trip to Italy and would highly recommend that everyone visit Italy!
The magnitude of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro did not occur to me until I was on the airplane, flying past the tallest free-standing mountain in Africa. Seeing the mountain for the first time, I was overwhelmed by nervous excitement, and humbled by the mass my brother and I would soon attempt to climb. We were so excited to begin our Greek adventure with Acanela! We have traveled together before but nothing as adventurous as this trip to Europe. As soon as we arrived in Athens we enjoyed our first meal at Smile Cafe (literally the name) which was a perfect way to begin the journey because that’s what we did every time we had a great meal or great experience. Every tour was educational, every meal was amazing, and every new experience was memorable!
Acanela’s Peru Expedition exceeded our expectations! We arrived in Cusco the day before the tour started because our flight from Lima was canceled the previous day due to weather in Cusco. Our guide Domingo was waiting at the airport. He met us in the evening to take us to dinner and made alternate arrangements to visit a textile cooperative instead of the horseback ride for the next morning due to the weather forecast. Lunch later at a private home was delicious.
One of our favorite kind of trips are relaxation and wellness.
