CLOTHING

Dresses/Skirts - These will be perfect for a warm, sunny day and are also great for a fancy dinner night! Our favorite dress right now for travel is the Adventure Dress! It’s lightweight, comfortable, and comes in a range of sizes and beautiful patterns! We also recommend bringing a long skirt to keep you shielded from the sun, and to wear while visiting religious monuments.

Shirts/Blouses - We recommend bringing tops that are going to be comfortable, and pack easily in your suitcase, such as a cotton/polyester blend! We also ask those travelling to Uzbekistan to bring clothing that is culturally respectful. Shirts that are too low-cut, revealing, or show your shoulders are best kept at home for this trip.

Pants - When travelling through Central Asia, pants that are loose-fitting and comfortable are the most appropriate option! We recommend bringing harem-style pants, and you can have fun with colors and patterns!

Scarf - You won’t regret packing a scarf on a trip to Uzbekistan! Both men and women are asked to cover their head and shoulders when visiting religious sites. In addition to this, a scarf will also keep you warm if it cools off at night, can be used as a blanket, or used as a makeshift pillow! You can purchase a scarf in Uzbekistan on the Silk Road, and it will be a beautiful souvenir to bring home with you!

Shoes - On a trip to Uzbekistan you should pack shoes that are comfortable to walk in, and will be appropriate for when you are visiting religious sites. We recommend bringing a pair of running shoes, and a sturdy pair of travel sandals!

DOCUMENTS AND TRAVEL INFO

Passport - You can’t really go anywhere in the world without this, so never forget your passport! Also, a few months before you’re set to go on your trip to Uzbekistan, make sure you check that your passport hasn’t expired! This will give you time to replace it if the expiration date has passed.

Money Belt - Uzbekistan is a cash-based economy. You’ll be surprised how much calmer you’ll feel when you know your money is safely hidden in a money belt under your clothes. Trust me, a money belt is a travel life-saver!

Essential Documents - My mom taught me that when you’re travelling, it’s always a good idea to have your tickets, booking confirmations, travel insurance, and other documents printed out and kept in a folder. You never know when you won’t have wifi or data to download a document, so having a printed copy may come in handy! In addition to this, always email yourself a photocopy of your passport and ID. If they get lost or stolen, having a copy will make it a lot easier to get a replacement!

Journal - Bringing a journal on your trip serves two purposes! First of all, it’s a great place to write down where you went, what you did, and where you ate that day, along with some general comments so you know what you really enjoyed if you ever decide to come back! Plus, once you return home, it becomes an adorable, personalized souvenir of your amazing trip!

ELECTRONICS

Camera and Memory Card - Whether you’re a professional photographer bringing all your gear, or simply snapping some photos with your phone, Uzbekistan is filled with stunning places where you’ll surely get the perfect picture! If you’re using a camera, don’t forget a memory card!

Portable Battery Pack - It’s highly recommended to bring a portable battery pack for all of your rechargeable items. While on a trip to Uzbekistan, you won’t want your camera or phone to die, or you could miss out on an amazing photo-op!

Outlet Adaptor - Uzbekistan uses the European Type C and F plug adaptor. Having your own outlet adaptor will ensure that all of your devices can be plugged in anywhere!

OTHER ESSENTIALS

First Aid Kit - This one may seem overexaggerated, but trust me when I say that packing a first aid kit, even if it’s small, is necessary whenever you’re travelling. In an unknown country, anything can happen. It’s best practice to be prepared!

Souvenirs From Home - While travelling through Uzbekistan, you will meet some amazing people! It’s a nice gesture to give them a small souvenir from your home country to remember you by! This could be something like a postcard or keychain that won’t take up too much room in your suitcase.

Sunscreen - No matter what skin type you have, it’s important to protect it from skin conditions caused by UV rays from the sun, and that means wearing a sunscreen with SPF!

Day Backpack - When you’re out exploring during the day, you want a lightweight backpack that will carry all of your daily essentials without weighing you down! I recommend a brand such as Cotopaxi or Herschel Supply!
